Eating Disorders

Eating disorders are not a choice. They are complex medical and psychiatric illnesses that patients do not choose. Eating disorders can affect people of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethniticies, sexual orientation, body shape and weights.

Multicultural Concerns

Multicultural counseling acknowledges how various aspects of a person’s cultural identity can influence their mental health. One’s race, ethnicity, religion, immigration status, socioeconomic background, gender identity and even geographic location can impact how one views or experiences the world.

Perinatal Mental Health

Perinatal mental health focuses on the needs surrounding pregnancy and parenting. Around 1 in 5 moms and 1 in 10 dads will suffer from post partum depression. Perinatal depression is the most under diagnosed OB complication in America. All parents - including fathers, partners and adoptive parents - can be impacted. Parents of every culture, age, income level and race can develop perinatal mental health disorders.

Self harm and Suicidal ideation

The rates of suicidal ideation and suicide have increased in recent years. According to the World Health Organization, suicide is the fourth leading cause of death among 15-29 year olds. Being connected to family and community support and having easy access to healthcare can decrease suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
